There is a larger need for data professionals but it is also increasingly more targeted. I remember large organisations setting up their data teams by hiring (almost any) ‘60 data scientists in three months’ just a couple of years back.

This is not enough any more. Companies have clearer visions and strategies and also data scientist often have their niche and have other requirements when looking for a job.

This increased competition is imho great for everyone involved.
